5th february - 15th march 2008
Steve Graham, who studied design at Stockport, decided to set up his own business in Ulverston in 2001 called PU Art. The name of his business was set up to reflect the name of the principal constituent material, polyurethane. With an interest in producing artwork that was neither expensive nor pretentious, Steve decided to create his abstract works of art using nothing more than MDF, emulsion and polyurethane coloured with pigment.
Using a variety of techniques, Steve creates pieces showing a range of styles including random splashes and flows to regulated grids and lines. Due to the spontaneous nature of these pieces, and the methods used to create them, each is a truly unique work of art that can never be copied. This allows him to create site-specific works that can be any size and can include back and fore colours that can be matched to any paint colour or finish. |
